LEGO: Doctor Strange Sanctum Santorum

2016-09-27-19-15-18-1

As Marvel is one of the bigger franchises at the moment that LEGO is promoting, it couldn’t be long before they released a Doctor Stange set. This set was released before the film released and it has 3 of the main characters: Doctor Stephen Strange, the Ancient One and Mordo. the setting is a Sanctum Sanctorum and not knowing what this was I wanted to see the explanation in the film but it never came. (For those who don’t know, this is the Sanctum Sanctorum of Doctor Strange and is more set after the film as he inherits it then. Thus the Ancient One being there isn’t really logical).

Doctor Strange

When in 2014, it was announced that Benedict Cumberbatch (from now on called Ben in this post) , was chosen to play Doctor Stephen Strange in Marvel’s Doctor Stange, I was not doubting he would do a great job to play this character, thought that it was a fantastic career move since all the actors in the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) are widely popular and will always get some recognition for these roles. On the other hand, affiliating with one of the biggest studios at the moment does mean that there is even less free time to make Sherlock , which is sad since I love the sociopath of a sleuth.

What we learned by following SDCC 2016 online – part 1: TV and film

sdcc

$Every geek knows that one weekend in the summer is the most important weekend to spend online, San Diego Comic Con weekend. Every year, I think of making the big trip to San Diego but up till now I haven’t done it yet (It’s still on my bucket list). This weekend I’ve spent many hours watching actor/ studio panels and trailers that have been released especially for SDCC.

X-Men: Apocalypse

BeFunky Collage

I’ve seen all X-men films that they have released up till now and so the latest installment of the series couldn’t stay unwatched for long.  I have been keeping an eye on timelines ever since they have started the whole X-men with the younger cast, since it should all tie-in with the stories with the older generation (I’m talking about Stewart and McKellen).

Captain America: Civil War

I have been preparing for this film for ages, reading the comics, choosing a side. Yes, I am team Captain America. A lot of people give me funny looks when I say this, but I find Tony Stark a bit of a cocky ass. Having said that, I think I need to explain it a little. I’m talking about comic book Tony not MCU Tony, Robert Downey Jr. makes Tony loveable.

Deadpool

BeFunky Collage.jpg

Before watching this film, my expectations are high, very high. We are talking another superhero movie with Ryan Reynolds. After the Green Lantern, he steps into the role of Deadpool. What did I know about Deadpool, well the list isn’t that long. I knew he’s from the Marvel Universe, he knows he’s being watched ( breaks the 4th wall by addressing the audience), he’s badass, a lot of people cosplay him and well that’s about it. The trailer gave some back story but still not all I would need to know the whole story. This is one of the Marvel characters that I haven’t read about in comics so it really is discovering the person from start on.

I went to see this film together with my (single) friends because we didn’t want to be left out of the Valentine’s celebrations – which in our case became Quirky Alone night and what better film to spend the night than this one? We had so much fun that some even already said if we’re still single next year that we should do this again.
