Sam Smith – Sportpaleis

Up till now I’ve regretted the fact that I haven’t seen Sam Smith live yet. I was very happy when I got tickets for the new “The Thrill of it all” tour.  As he will be playing in one of the biggest venues in Belgium, I now kind of regret not seeing him in a smaller venue since his music would come out more in an intimate (read smaller) setting. But now I get to see him sing for the first time and I’m looking forward to it!

Air Traffic – AB

b4c88e4799

Ten years ago, I loved the album Fractured life but never got to see Air Traffic life. Last year when they performed in het Depot in Leuven (three days in a row) I didn’t get tickets because I would be going to Lady Gaga the same weekend (and this concert got postponed). So when I saw that they would be playing the AB in Brussels, I didn’t hesitate and immediately got tickets. This concert (Saturday) sold out, and a second was planned for the Sunday. I’m happy to have gotten tickets for Saturday as this is an ideal concert night (compared to one during the week). I’m very curious to see which songs they will perform since there has been talking about a second album but only a single has been released.

Fall Out Boy – Vorst Nationaal

c-fob-singapore.jpg

During the last few years, I’ve been getting back into Fall out Boy more and more. Maybe it’s a nostalgia thing. But when they released their latest album Mania, a tour could not stay behind for long. Originally they did a small teaser tour in Europe but they only went to Germany and the United Kingdom (which are easy to go to for me). So when they did announce the full tour and Belgium was on the agenda, I used my “fan-code” and got my tickets a day early. In hindsight, this wasn’t really necessary since the concert didn’t sell out.

Editors – Sportpaleis

After having seen Editors at Pukkelpop last year and being happily surprised with the choice of setlist, I decided to buy tickets to the concert. When a week before the concert the new album was released and I started to listen to it, I was even more psyched because I really love the way how they went back to their roots with their music.

15 years Fall Out Boy

BeFunky Collage.jpg

I think the first time I really started listening to Fall Out Boy was about the time “From Under The Cork Tree” was released and was caught by the catchiness of songs like “Dance, Dance” and “Sugar, we’re going down.  I have seen them perform once at a festival but that’s ages ago. Hereby my favorite songs of 15 years Fall Out Boy

Imagine Dragons – Rockhall

Evolveworldtour

Since I saw Imagine Dragons last year at Rock Werchter, I started listening to the albums they released. I discovered that I really liked the music they make and when it was announced that they would be coming to Europe for a concert hall tour, I was very excited. Normally I would go to the concert in Antwerp but because the tickets were released while I was on holiday and sold out quite quickly, I opted to drive to Luxembourg and see them there. I can only choose that option if a concert in Luxembourg is on a Saturday, which this one is.

Lady Gaga – Sportpaleis

When the tickets were announced, I immediately contacted my friends who would like to go to the concert. Weirdly enough, those girls are not the ones you would expect to like Lady Gaga.  The concert was originally planned for October 1st, 2017 but due to health issues it had to be moved and on January 22nd was the new date that was announced.  When the date came closer, I started listening more songs from the multiple albums. I do confess I can’t sing along with all the songs that weren’t released as singles. I still can’t even after the concert.

Millionaire – Muziekodroom, Hasselt

b808ecd44d19b6af206111c546abd54c

I was a bit late in getting tickets for the show in Leuven, so I was very happy when I saw Muziekodroom in Hasselt was also getting a concert of Millionaire. This is more of a home match as the singer originally live close to Hasselt.
Even though I hadn’t heard any of the new songs before going to the concert, I enjoyed the whole concert. The feeling for me was mostly nostalgia. Music by Millionaire gives me such an early 2000 feel. There wasn’t a minute that I thought ‘please play a song I know’. The crowd really was hopping and when the first notes of ‘I’m on a high’ started playing everyone began singing along as loud as they could. You could really feel and see that a lot of people where there that wanted to see what Millionaire was doing now and hoped it was still as good before

I’m keeping my eye out for more concerts now…

15 years All-American Rejects

BeFunky Collage.jpg

I have been listening to the All-American Rejects ever since their first album was released.  I remember telling friends about them and they would look at me as if I invented a band, but also other friends that were borrowing my copy of the CD. Later on, I have been talking about nostalgia with friends about this band and have discovered that friends I made long after the first album was released have been into the band too.
