Everything, Everything

At about this time each year, there is an action in most of our cinemas here in Belgium which means for four days you can go to see the films that are on at half of the price. Whenever I’m not on holiday during that period, I try to see a few films. This year I chose to see a few films that I didn’t have time for before but still wanted to see.

Wonder Woman

BeFunky CollageI had no idea what to expect from the standalone Wonder Woman film. From watching the trailer I did know that it was going to be in the past since the images from WW II that can’t be denied. I did see Batman vs. Superman and had seen the character there but knowing that there was a female director and it would be an origin story is still far from the story itself.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol2

I fell in love with the story of Peter Quill the moment I saw the first Guardians of the Galaxy film.  Not only with Peter (Starlord) but also the other characters and the setting future but not really with music from the eighties.  The hope is that the story goes further and that this doesn’t become a lame sequel. Hopes are very high on that front since I have not really seen a bad Marvel sequel ever since I started watching.

After having seen what happens to Groot at the end of the previous film, I am also wondering how it will work out for him here. They have been teasing a lot of Groot stuff since I think he is one of the universal favorites of the film.

It was just not possible for me to not see this film. I grew up on Disney animation films and Beauty and the Beast has always been a favourite. Not my absolute favourite of all the animation films they’ve made, but then again they made a lot of them.

When I heard that they were going to make a live-action version of it, I was intrigued in which scenes would change immensely. The trailer and teasers before the release were exact scenes that I knew from the animated version. I was fearing that those were the only ones and that they were hooking us, the people who watched as a kid.

Logan

I have been watching X-Men films ever since the first one was released in 2000. It did get a little complicated when they did a sort of reboot with X-Men: First Class but they pulled that right in X-Men: Days of future past. Or they at least explained some things.  Then a few years back they decided to start a Wolverine: Origin line and well, I do love Hugh Jackman in this role thus I watched the films and each one of them is good (even if they are spinoffs). This one, Logan, is the last in the Wolverine saga, and of course, I’m curious to see how they were going to end the saga.

Ghostbusters

This is another film I couldn’t see last summer due to circumstances. A lot of people have been saying that it isn’t good. They always say “Why remake a perfectly good film with women”? I decided that I wouldn’t let all the opinions colour mine and just watched it on a quiet Saturday evening.
