The BFG

BeFunky Collage

I remember very well from the time when I was little that I loved reading Roald Dahl books. They held a kind of magic to them. They had some very deep themes like bullying. The first book I ever read front to cover was Matilda. So I have very fond memories of reading these books. When they announced that they were going to make a BFG film, I just knew I had to see it?

What we learned by following SDCC 2016 online – part 1: TV and film

sdcc

$Every geek knows that one weekend in the summer is the most important weekend to spend online, San Diego Comic Con weekend. Every year, I think of making the big trip to San Diego but up till now I haven’t done it yet (It’s still on my bucket list). This weekend I’ve spent many hours watching actor/ studio panels and trailers that have been released especially for SDCC.

Harry Potter Exhibition -Brussels

57773_field_home_slideshow_big_628x250

A few weeks back, the Harry Potter exhibition arrived in Brussels and all Harry Potter fans have been queuing to see all the artifacts that have been on tour.

We had tickets to enter the palace at the Heizel at twelve o’clock. In hindsight this seemed to be the perfect time to go. When we exited the souvenir shop at the end of the exhibition and the people that had tickets for two o’clock wanted to enter the queue was humongous.

10 years Paolo Nutini

BeFunky Collage.jpgI was introduced to Paolo’s music by a colleague – who knew I loved discovering new music.  I’m honest that I wasn’t immediately wild about it – it took a few times listening to that first album – These Streets – before I really started liking the songs. Today marks the tenth anniversary of that first album – although officially he was already signed to the record company a year earlier. With only three albums in ten years – the songs on all three albums are of a certain quality.

As I did earlier this year with Arctic Monkeys, I’m going to go through each album – tell you which are my favorite song(s) on it and a catching lyrics to go with it.

Kenneth Branagh Theatre Company live: Romeo & Juliet

medium.732_2090610643_KBTC_Romeo_and_Juliet_lead_image_web.scaled

I have been looking forward to this play ever since the Kenneth Branagh company announced their year in theatre last year.  I’ve tried to convince my cousin earlier this year ,when we went to London, to try to fit in this play in our schedule. But since there were only two seats available and they were not next to each other, he decided to pass on it.  I was not overly upset about not seeing it live since I knew it was going to be broadcasted in the cinema just over a month later.

The other reason I wanted to see this play was because I had seen the chemistry between Richard Madden and Lily James already when they were the romantic leads in Cinderella. I was hoping that this chemistry would show up in Romeo & Juliet even more.

Me before You

BeFunky Collage

When at the beginning of 2016 I saw the trailer for Me before you and saw it was a book I had to buy the book immediately?. The trailer already moved me to a tear so I knew the book would do that too. I prepared myself to cry, loaded my bag with tons of tissues. Generally, when I cry with the book, there is no way I wouldn’t cry with the film. I even have the habit of starting to cry at the beginning because I know what’s going to happen.
